Argentina 1-0 Nigeria

We haven’t seen Argentina losing their last few opening matches on the World Cup and to add a plot to thicken Nigeria have never won against a non-European side when it comes to World Cup competition.

Argentina: 22-Sergio Romero; 2-Martin Demichelis, 13-Walter Samuel, 6-Gabriel Heinze, 17-Jonas Gutierrez; 14-Javier Mascherano, 8-Juan Sebastian Veron, 7-Angel Di Maria, 10-Lionel Messi, 11-Carlos Tevez, 9-Gonzalo Higuain

Nigeria: 1-Vincent Enyeama; 17-Chidi Odiah, 6-Danny Shittu, 2-Joseph Yobo, 3-Taye Taiwo; 19-Chinedu Obasi, 20-Dickson Etuhu, 15-Haruna Lukman, 14-Sani Kaita; 8-Yakubu Aiyegbeni, 18-Victor Obinna.

5 minutes and after a loss ball given away from Nigerian defensive midfield and Messi strikes dangerously into the corner just to see a splendorous save from Enyeama.

WWWWOOOWWWW…and from the following corner GOALLLLLLLLLLL – Diving header from Gabriel Heinze and it is Argentina 1-0 Nigeria.

20 minutes and Higuain squanders another fantastic chance to increase the lead of Argentina.

36th minute and a strategic free-kick taken by Argentina just to see Messi taken a swerve shot just to Enyeama to save it again brilliantly, so far the best player on the field the Nigerian goalkeeper.

Last time Argentina had a negative result after being ahead for the first 45 minutes was in 1930, other than that - 23 matches they came on top. Can Nigeria beat that record?

We see Nigeria missing big time Obi-Mikel, because he would help to destroy the offensive approach from Argentina. Another insight is that Messi has not scored in the last 7 matches for the qualifying stages.

Nigeria had a very good game but when it came down to the last pass they have ruined it and by doing that in a World Cup stage is the same as sending the wrong message.
