Honduras 0-1 Chile

The Line-Ups:

Honduras: 18-Noel Valladares; 2-Osman Chavez, 3-Maynor Figueroa, 7-Ramon Nunez, 21-Emilio Izaguirre, 8-Wilson Palacios, 20-Amado Guevara, 23-Sergio Mendoza, 13-Roger Espinoza, 17-Edgard Alvarez, 9-Carlos Pavon.

We just had to wait 34 minutes to see Chile capitalizing on their supremacy in this match. Fantastic move from La Roja involving the playmaker Matias Fernandez and then Isla get the ball behind the back of the Honduran defensive line just to find Beausejour that stroke comfortably into the net. 1-0 Chile.

Alexis Sanchez is surely a player to watch and contender to the Best youth player of the tournament.

Chile seems to be heading more to the second goal rather than ever Honduras dreams of leveling the match. La Roja has been flawless tactically and very different from the warming-up matches to the World Cup. They don’t seem to be missing Suazo and have brought a much more happy football with the currently formation with the spaces well occupied and defending very high in the field.

In the 63th minute we had the save of the competition so far. Valladares saved it brilliantly. Ponce was just 3 meters away of the net and could not score. It reminded the save of Gordon Banks back in the days in another World Cup against Brazil.

Stats point out how the game has been heavily dominated by Chile. La Roja had 30 touches inside of the box of Honduras compared to only one by Los Catrachos.

Chile had the first win in the World Cup since 1962.
