Ivory Coast 0-0 Portugal

The Line-Ups:

Ivory Coast: Barry, Demel, Toure, Zokora, Tiene, Eboue, Toure Yaya, Tiote, Gervinho, Dindane, Kalou. Subs: Zogbo, Angoua, Gohouri, Doumbia, Drogba, Gosso, Romaric, Kone, Keita, Bamba, Yeboah

Portugal: Eduardo, Ferreira, Bruno Alves, Carvalho, Fabio Coentrao, Deco, Mendes, Raul Meireles, Ronaldo, Liedson, Danny. Subs: Beto, Rolando, Duda, Simao, Miguel, Veloso, Pepe, Ruben Amorim, Hugo Almeida, Tiago, Ricardo Costa, Fernandes

10 minutes and we have CR9 striking a Tomahawk to kiss the woodwork from long range. The first chance in this match and Ivory Coast is missing on Drogba that is on the bench trying to lift the spirits of the Elephants.

We advance until the 20 minutes and the first clash between Demel and Ronaldo getting personal in the end of it. There has been an exchange of praises and two yellow cards for both players.

We head to the 65th minute and vuvuzelas start to increase the volume as Drogba approaches to get in the match. Being Ronaldo so far made void will Drogba have the same effect? Drogba in and we will have Gervinho switching to the wings and danger will come from this tactical change.

While Ivory Coast makes offensive changes we see Portugal making the opposite. Bringing Tiago in for Deco and we see warming-up Rolando and Pepe, truly defensive players.

When everyone was expecting that Drogba would change the game it happened otherwise. Ivory Coast stopped attacking as much as they were doing prior to that introduction. Drogba because of the injury sustained was always running away from one-on-ones fearing to increase the harm.

Great expectation and huge disappointment that is all what is to take from this match.

MAN OF THE MATCH – Yaya Touré
