New Zealand 1-1 Slovakia

The Line-Ups:

New Zealand: 1-Mark Paston; 4-Winston Reid, 5-Ivan Vicelich, 6-Ryan Nelsen, 3-Tony Lochhead, 19-Tommy Smith, 11-Leo Bertos, 7-Simon Elliot, 14-Rory Fallon, 10-Chris Killen, 9-Shane Smeltz.

32 minutes and after a couple of chances, but not coming very close regarding goal we have another goalkeeper incident that starts to make part of this World Cup but for funny reasons. Mark Paston was trying to kick the ball but Jabulani was not interested in the affection so the New Zealand goalie was almost having a costly mistake, lucky enough in terms of score nothing changed.

49 minutes and GOALLLLLLLLLLLLL…Slovakia leads 1-0 through a Robert Vittek effort. Slovakia playing through the wings and a deep crossing from Sestak finds Vittek head to change the scoreboard. We have seen this coming because Slovakia is the only team on the pitch and New Zealand are a mere spectator.

We are into 93 minutes and could you imagine it? New Zealand on the verge of getting the first ever point in World Cup competition and Vladimir Weiss is astonished. Reid scores and makes it 1-1. It was a very similar goal to the Slovakian one. Smeltz crosses and the Kiwi’s defender Reid heads it to score.

Still…Can Slovakia create an upset on Group F?
