USA 1-0 Algeria

The Line-Ups:

United States: 1-Tim Howard; 6-Steve Cherundolo, 15-Jay DeMerit, 12-Jonathan Bornstein, 3-Carlos Bocanegra; 10-Landon Donovan, 4-Michael Bradley, 19-Maurice Edu, 8-Clint Dempsey; 17-Jozy Altidore, 9-Hercules Gomez.

Algeria: 23-Rais Ouheb Mbouli; 2-Majid Bougherra, 5-Rafik Halliche, 4-Antar Yahia, 3-Nader Belhadj, 21-Fouad Kadir, 19-Hassan Yebda, 8-Medhi Lacen, 15-Karim Ziani, 11-Rafik Djebbour, 13-Karim Matmour.

Looks like this match it is going to be very good with both nations playing their soul out on the field. In the 7th minute Algeria was almost scoring the first goal of the match with an acrobatic effort by Karim Matmour but the ball hit the bar.

Heading into the 20th minute and USA has a disallowed goal when actually Dempsey does not seem to be offside, so the game will keep the 0-0 scoreboard with Bill Clinton on the tribune.

With England winning on the other match one of Algeria or USA must win in order to qualify otherwise they will be both out of the competition.

What a miss from USA!!! Dempsey had it all opened but managed to put the ball into the stands after taking the advantage of the rebounding ball on the post. Frustrated times in this match.

WWWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWW Last minute and Donovan scores the most important goal ever for the North American. Like Obama’s moto “Yes, we can” so they did on the quickest of counters. The USA were really the best team on the field but were failing to convert the chances they created often throughout the match. No this time tough because they deserve it and with this win they are top of the group C.

MAN OF THE MATCH: Donovan
